Tenants/Cleaning
What are my cleaning responsibilities during the tenancy?

During your stay you are expected to:

  • keep all rooms reasonably clean and tidy (bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room, hallways),
  • regularly clean the bathroom (toilet, shower, sink, tiles, mirrors),
  • keep the kitchen clean (worktops, sink, stove, oven, fridge, microwave, cabinets),
  • wash dishes and not leave food or rubbish for long periods,
  • regularly remove rubbish and sort waste according to local rules,
  • sweep/vacuum and, when needed, mop floors,
  • clean windows from the inside from time to time (if safely accessible)
  • keep furniture, mattresses and textiles in good, hygienic condition,
  • clean up any spills or stains as soon as possible.

You must use the property “as a good and careful tenant”, which means looking after it as you would your own home and preventing unnecessary dirt, damage or mould.
