When you move out, you must return the property in a similar overall level of cleanliness as at move-in, allowing for normal wear and tear. This usually means:
- all rooms clean and tidy,
- floors vacuumed and, if needed, mopped,
- kitchen cleaned (worktops, cabinets, stove, oven, fridge emptied and wiped, sink, tiles),
- bathroom thoroughly cleaned (toilet, shower, bathtub, sink, tiles, mirrors, drains),
- all rubbish removed from the property and bins emptied,
- personal belongings removed,
- inside of wardrobes and drawers wiped clean.
If the property is left noticeably dirty, with rubbish, grease, limescale, mould or strong odours, the landlord may arrange a professional cleaning, and the cost can be charged to you or deducted from your deposit.
